Artifact: How would you describe yourself?
Cora: I would describe myself as a hustlin' mama! Over the last six years I've had a vintage space at an antique mall, designed and owned a children's clothing brand, Camp Wolf, and now, am a freelance marketing and social media boss lady, all while being a full time "work at home" mom - and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Artifact: How has having a kiddo changed your home's style?
Cora: Honestly, not much! My husband and I have always thought our home should still reflect our style and that our son would grow up respecting his surroundings. That's how I remember being raised and I grew up appreciating the beautiful artifact's and antiques my mother had all over our home. But we also know that if something breaks or gets destroyed, to just shake it off because it's just STUFF. At 5, Miles is extremely thoughtful and neat about his toys and as you can see from his room, is a collector himself. My favorite part of his room is the small empty fish tank on his shelf that he calls his 'display case' and houses his most beloved Star Wars creations. We definitely got hooked up with a cool kid!

Artifact: What are some of your favorite pieces in your home?
Cora: That's easy, my plants! They bring me so much joy and it's been such a fun journey watching them grow throughout the years. It wasn't until I met me husband (Mr. Green-thumb #thankyouverymuch) that I really started to appreciate plants. They bring so much life into every space of our home and just like with my son and our animals, they need daily love and attention.

Artifact: What inspires you? People? Places? Things? And why?
Cora: Everything! Because most of my job entails a lot of time on social media, I find all sorts of inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. A few accounts I'm crazy about are: @designlovefest @marahoffman @justinablakeney @fleamarketfab @findingpaola & @disfunkshionmag. As for places, Portland - of course! But, my hometown in Southern California is where I draw a lot of inspiration from. Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, California has always been my sanctuary and a place I spend endless time at while visiting back home. Not only is it a stunning historical site, but it's extra special because my mom has been working there for last 15+ years.

Artifact:  Do you have a favorite quote or poem?
Cora: "Draw a crazy picture, write a nutty poem, sing a mumble-grumble song, whistle through your comb. Do a loony-goony dance 'cross the kitchen floor, put something silly in the world that ain't been there before." - Shel Silverstein
This poem reminds me of my son. Encourages me to always raise him to have fun, be adventurous and smart.

Artifact What are your favorite stores in Portland to get inspired by? (aside from Artifact!)
Cora: I LOVE Division Street and not just because Artifact is there!
Artifact: What are your top five songs and artists?

  • I have been to Cora’s home these past 5 1/2 years. Watching it change is like the seasons.
There is always a new wall color or a vintage piece of furniture that pops up. Staying fluid is Cora’s best gift. Not afraid of change and always with a flair for wimsy.

  • Cora-thank you for sharing your wonderful home and style with all of us lovers of the eclectic. Our homes look like Artifact and I “merchandise” my house and at times, I wish I could hang an “OPEN” sign on my door. There are so many beautiful things to be found and of course, we find them. I appreciate you, your work and your lovely life.
