Store Tour: Menagerie

December, 22, 2016

Store Tour with Menagerie - Portland's natural beauty Airstream, focused on supporting natural, locally made products.
We had the pleasure of visiting Casey Shagena, of Menagerie, a charming 1979 beautifully refurbished Airstream boutique. Menagerie is a small-batch beauty store focusing on locally sourced, natural lines.
This beautiful space is a medley of thoughtful beauty products and local makers with an abundance of botanicals. Casey strives to share ingredient awareness with all of her specially hand-picked items - and it shows! The overflow of magic is evident in this small, but stunning space.

Take a peek inside our tour at Menagerie and enjoy all the beauty this boutique has to share!

While in Portland, visit Menagerie, located inside Tidbit Food, Farm & Garden 2880 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202

Artifact: Outside of Portland what place have you been most inspired or struck by?
Casey: I'm always inspired by the pace of New York City. I love the creative energy and the diversity there and feel charged everytime I go!

Artifact: Do you have a favorite designer?
Casey: Generally, I'm more inspired by illustrators than designers. My favorite illustrator is Carson Ellis, who is also local to Portland. I also admire the body of work by design house Anagrama in Mexico City for their approach to beauty.

Artifact: Is there a product you're obsessed with right now?
Casey: Barnwell's rejuvinating Face Oil. The mix of Rock Rose and Neroli makes my skin glow and it blends so easily, and soaks in quickly. It's definitely my favorite small-batch face oil, and I love that it's local!

Artifact: What products do you recommend for dry winter skin?
Casey: I've been using the Live Botanical Skin Repair Balm lately since the weather has changed. It's been a life saver for my face, lips and hands in the cold weather! Her line is truly something special.

Artifact: What is your favorite food cart in your pod community?
(Sorry to make you pick!)
Casey: It's so hard to pick just one! I really love Tortoise & Hare. The owner, Bri, shares the same philosophy as I do about beauty and product - limit consumption and choose ingredients that are fresh, local, ethical and beautiful. Her food really is amazing and she supports local farms in the process.
